January makes

So tomorrow is the 1st February, where an earth has January gone?! It has been an interesting month for me. I have made my first crafting blog, tried some new styles of cards and also entered some challenges for the first time. In fact, by starting this blog, although still only a few posts, has opened my eyes up to a whole new crafting community which quite frankly is pretty amazing.

This is what I have been up to this month:

I tried a new style of card with decoupage flowers from the Dovecraft Sugar & Spice kit.

I've made some gorgeous and lovely very cute animal cards using the Neighbourwood kit.

I made a few Valentines cards from the Me To You Tatty Teddy With Love Range.

I experimented with Craft Artist programme and made this lovely Paddington Thank You card.

I've also made a few cards from the Holly Pond CD and some Looney Tunes cards I am unable to post but they look fab!

Thank you all for visiting my blog, new followers always welcome. If you have your own blog, let me know as I love viewing others peoples creations xx

Black & Gold Forever Friends Birthday

Forever Friends still remains to be one of my favourite characters ever, and I can remember them from when I was a kid. They sell really well. This lovely 5 x 7 card has a vintage feel to it with its black and gold theme. The picture has dimension with 3D decoupage. I have stamped the sentiment in gold metallic ink which matches in well with the theme, and added pearl embellishments. Love it!

I am entering it in to the January 2013 Forever Friends 'Birthdays' Challenge. Wish me luck... xx

Holly Pond Hill 'Mum' Birthday Card

I made this card with the lovely Holly Pond Hill image for my Mum on her birthday.

It is 6 x 6 in size and uses fabric flowers and gems as embellishments. Quite simple but effective. My mum doesn't like cards which are too fussy so I always worry she will like anything I make for her but she said it was "impressive", so I am very pleased with that!

I cannot get enough of this CD! Good job from Joanna Sheen. Thank you for looking xx

HOW TO MAKE: With Sympathy Card

Make this simple but effective With Sympathy card, as I find out on a too regular basis for my liking, you never know when you might need one!

1. Take a square white card blank, or make a square white card with left-side fold (what I call 'standard' card).

2. Chose a backing paper and cut a square about 0.5cm smaller in size than the card blank, and stick down with adhesive of your chose.

3. Take a pre-cut paper circular doily such as the ones from the Tea Party Collection by dovecraft, or cut a fancy circular lace doily using a die cutting machine.

4. Using a rubber or clear stamp, stamp your sentiment in the middle using a coordinating ink colour. Leave to dry then stick to card.

5. Use fabric or paper flowers to edge the middle part of the doily and fix with adhesive, and embellish flowers with gems. Then complete the look by stick alternative coloured gems around the circle to give it an elegant but attractive edge.

This is a very simple non-fussy card but can be adapted to your own designs using your own ideas, colours, and materials.

Do Crafts Gallery

Sorry to bring up Christmas again but I wanted to share something with you. Back in November 2011 I made this Christmas card and posted it on Do Crafts Gallery and subsequently forgot about it.

I am so chuffed to return all these weeks later and see members rating it 5 stars and leaving lovely comments. Thank you so much, it's made my day!

I love nosing on the gallery, there are some amazing projects that are very inspirational. I can only hope people find inspiration in my designs xx
