Christmas in Mulberry Wood - chilling by the tree

As you have read I am have a jolly good go at entering challenges of late. Not only does it focus your crafting projects a little more it is a whole bunch of fun!

Today's post features my entry for the Crafter's Companion Monthly Challenge: Embossing. I have a cuttlebug and I often like to play with it but find it difficult to use embossing successfully on my cards (supposedly only in my own opinion!). I looked at a few of the stunning entries and thought I would give the challenge a go.  There is also the opportunity to be a guest designer - if chosen, what fun that would be!!!!

I created this 6 x 6 card on a kraft base card using this cute little elephant in a santa hat character from the Mulberry Wood at Christmas papercrafting CD-rom from Crafter's Companion. Although it was released last year, it is still very much one of my favourite festive resources.

From this first picture you will see that the snowflake embossing folder I used on the green patterned backing paper it is quite subtle.

From this second picture you will see how the paper is embossed which gives added dimension. I also used a fancy rectangular die to set off the image which I raised from the card with sticky pads, again adding further dimension still.

To complete the card I used gold star brads and a little bow made from red and gold ribbon. I also added some glitter to the image to give it some extra sparkle which you can see in close up below.

Thanks for stopping by. Wish me luck with the challenge xx
