Sparkles 5th Anniversary - Anything Goes

Been very busy getting ready to move house but recently I did a special commission for one of my customers who doesn't celebrate Christmas but Winter Solstice so thought I would show a couple of those as my DT make of "Anything Goes" to celebrate our 5th Anniversary over at Sparkles Monthly Challenge. I have not been a DT member very long but I am proud to be part of something obviously so well supported.

This card is from Pollyanna Pickering Christmas Moments with die cuts from Signature Dies ivy corner from Joanna Sheen in kraft card.

I also made this beautiful card with the Christmas Moments CD. I have used hessian ribbon from Wilkos and lovely brown buttons which match the kraft card. I have also added glitter to the image to make the holly berries sparkle.

Thanks for viewing my blog. Hope you join in the challenge. The prize this time is a $10 voucher from Di's Digi Downloads.

Blue & Silver

Not long now to Christmas and the December theme for Gruffies and Guests Challenge chosen by our lovely DT member Vickie is "Blue and Silver". The picture I chose is from the House Mouse Triple CD and features a house mouse in a penguin family. I was excited when I saw this as I have been a little bit in love with the John Lewis Monty the Penguin advert. In addition to this earlier in the year Stephen and I did a zoo keeper experience day at Dudley Zoo and fed the penguins. Here we are with hand reared Elliot the penguin.

For my card I have made a small a6 sized card with use of silver mirror board with matt & layer, silver ribbed ribbon from American crafts and used some wire to lace blue, white, silver sequins and beads for embellishment.  Of course I added my obligatory sparkles! It's all been  a bit crazy as we are in the middle of getting ready to move house. As I write almost all of my craft stuff is in boxes which is soul destroying as I'd rather been creating then packing it away!

Our beautiful challenge creator and leader Shaz has been so generous and donated the prize of these (pictured) lovely Gruffies Stamps and 10 decoupage sheets by Joanna Sheen!

Make sure you visit her at her Crafty Little Blogger site. Some wonderful card designs to coo over and get inspiration from for your own crafty projects.

Thank you for viewing my blog entry. Hope you join in with challenge. Comments welcome! Xx

Driving Home For Christmas

Hello lovelies,

It's been quite eventful here in Stafford this past week. I am sure you must've seen the absolutely tragic news of the two men who lost their lives in the firework store explosion last week. The industrial site in which it is situated is not that far from our house and it did give my cat and I a pretty big fright. Ever so loud! I am thinking of the families of those who died and those who were trapped. One of the ladies who managed to escape I read on facebook to be a fellow crafter. It makes you realise how crafting connects you to the people of the world. Those who are the other side of the globe from you and those who are just around the corner.

Anyway, it is that time of the month again. No, not that. It is time to share with you my latest Gruffies and Guests Challenge DT make. A tiny bit on the tardy this time. (Sorry, Shaz!) The challenge this time is "Christmas is Coming". Which suits me as everyone knows that Christmas is my favourite time of the year. This time I have chosen this adorable picture of Gruffies driving home for Christmas with their car loaded full of goodies.

I have used a  6 x 6 red card blank, with the matching backing paper from the CD. Also, I have used some snowflake backing paper from my stash. I have added two colours of ribbon in blue and white down the middle, as well as star brads for embellishment. The little snowflake is punched out of mirror board and a gem added for extra sparkle. I have also used some iridescent glitter - my favourite - as sparkly snow.

I really do hope you like my design. The only problem I have with it is, is now I have Chris Rea's "Driving Home for Christmas" song in my head on repeat.

Do join in with the challenge, for a chance of winning a £10 voucher from Scribble & Scrap Crafts. Fab prize! Some lovely entries already.

I am also entering this into the Winter Wonderland - Pick & Mix challenge.
Brads, Ribbon and Snowflakes.

Thanks for visiting. All comments welcome Xx

Jeremy Fisher Sparkles DT

Not that I have had a chance to do much crafting but every chance I do get seems to be revolving around Christmas so for a break from it has been brilliant to do my DT card for Sparkles Monthly  Challenge with the theme "Autumn Colours" which has started today. I have raided my stash for this one!

For this 6 x 6 card, I have used some Jeremy Fisher decoupage from the Crafter's Companion Beatrix Potter range with matching backing papers that are very autumnal. I used kraft card for matt and layering, some golden yellow ribbon and some cute little fabric flowers that if my memory serves me correctly are from Hobby House. The kraft butterflies are embellishments from Hobbycraft. I have stamped the birthday sentiment onto some kraft card which I really like.

The prize this time is absolutely fabulous - a £10 voucher from Crafty Ribbons. Wouldn't mind that myself...

Hope to see your entry - have fun and join in Xx

Trick or Treat? - Gruffies & Guests DT

Hi all, it's been a while since I have blogged. Mostly because I have been so poorly recently and I am not getting much time at my craft desk as usual. I have been doing other things such as cross stitch recently, which I have also enjoyed very much for many years now.

Here is my latest DT card for Gruffies & Guests Challenge Blog which the theme this time is Anything Goes with the Option of Halloween. Sooo the big dilemma I have had is how do you make a Gruffie, Hopper or House Mouse scary? Well, I didn't succeed!

This is my first ever Halloween card and it is turned out very cute NOT scary one bit! Typical me, really isn't it! I have used this adorable image from the Gruffies and Happy Hoppers paper crafting CD of two Gruffie trick or treating but  one is upset to have dropped her treats. So sweet. I have used a backing paper from the CD and used black card too matt and layer. I have used sticky letters on black card and added them with sticky fixers. I have also added gorgeous fabric flowers with gem centre. Then added a cute little bow. I also added purple glitter to the wings of the Gruffie costume. Why? Because I had some new purple glitter glue I wanted to use...

I encourage you to have a go at this challenge - the prize available is $10 voucher from Di's Digi Stamps.

Hope to see your entry soon! xx

Back to School - Sparkles Challenge

Hello Lovelies,

I am pleased to announce that I am now part of the wonderful Sparkles Monthly Challenge Design Team! I joined a couple of months ago but haven't been able to design anything until now.

This month's challenge is Back to School.

I made this card with the Popcorn the Bear Kids Collection CD which my lovely crafting friend Suzanne sent me as a present. It could not have come at at more apt time. Thank you, Suzanne <3

The card uses decoupage with matching backing paper, layered with plain red card. Embellished with red polka dot ribbon from American Crafts and recycled buttons. The sentiment I made on my computer and backed onto gold mirror card.

The prize for this challenge is a $10 from DisDigiStamps. Hope you join in! Xx

Food Glorious Food

Ok, so I am getting a bit more into the Christmas spirit now and made another card for the CD Sunday Challenge *Food Glorious Food* theme.

I got out my Christmas stash and found this decoupage sheet featuring a  gorgeous image of Guinea pigs backing a cake in the kitchen. I used Forever Friends retro Christmas disc for the backing paper which is my CD contribution. I've added a bit of sparkle to the holly leaves in the background, used a die cut in green for added foliage and some red gems. I love the little red polka dot bow from Dovecrafts.

Hope you like it. Thanks for visiting - any comments appreciated. Xx

Gruffies & Guests - Anything Goes with Option of Boys

The new Gruffies & Guests Challenge has launched with "Anything Goes with Option of Boys". Here is my design card and my first Christmas card of the year!

The card uses the House Mouse Triple CD (Christmas Disc) and incorporates 3 different background papers as well as plain red card. The image has been glittered with my favourite iridescent glitter, embellished with snowflakes and gems. Very cute!!

The prize this time is AMAZING. Our sponsor for this challenge is Petal Lu who makes beautiful handmade flowers and has kindly donated a £10 lucky dip prize. Xx

Sunbathing Bunny

Wow, its been a long time since I've posted but here I am back with another design team make for Gruffies & Guests Challenge. The theme as always is Anything Goes but this time with the option of Summer.

On my card we have a gorgeous sunbathing Happy Hopper from the Gruffies double craft CD. I have used a beautiful turquoise blue handmade paper for matt and layering and the sun brolly background paper printed from the the CD. I have added a gorgeous blue ribbon with a knotted bow, blue gems and a very cute crocheted circle with glittery blue button in the centre.

I have  added iridescent glitter to the sun brolly which looks really nice when it catches the light.

The prize this time is a £15 voucher from Scribble & Scrap.

If you follow the optional theme you get two shots at the prize. Good luck Xx

By the Sea

I got a bit confused this weekend when like every Sunday morning I looked to see what the CD Sunday Challenge theme is to find it had not changed from last week. Reading more I realised it had gone fortnightly which is fab for me as I always struggle to get my make done by the the deadline. This time with the "By the Sea" theme I was particularly pleased I could join in as I desperately wanted to use my new Halcyon Days CD from Crafter's Companion and here is my entry!

Hope you like it - any comments appreciated :) Xx

Spotty & Stripy Pink Fairy

Phew! What a storm we had this morning. My boyfriend and I were both made to jump by a sudden huge flash of lightning and almighty rumble which shook the house to it's core. Luckily a few minutes beforehand I had called the cat in for his breakfast so when I went to check on him he was still munching away like nothing had happened. Usually he is terrified of thunder so was such a relief.

Today I have made this lovely (very) pink 7 x 7" card. It incorporates a lot of elements including spots and wavy stripes. Patchwork  and sentiment embossing with my Cuttlebug, gorgeous lace and buttons and pearls. The image is from the fairly new CD from Crafter's Companion "Angelica & Friends" and love how the bunny creeps in from the left to have a nose at what is occurring. I have added glitter for some extra sparkle.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Patchwork - Gruffies & Guests

Well... it's that time of the month again. I don't mean that! It's Gruffies and Guests Challenge - YAY! This month as usual we have the Anything Goes theme but this time with the option of Patchwork chosen by the lovely Genny. If you wish to enter you must incorporate an image of a house mouse, gruffie or happy hopper in your design, and as an added bonus if you use the chosen theme (i.e. patchwork) you get two shots at the prize. Can't snort at that.

For my DT make this time I have interpreted the Patchwork theme as sewing as that is what I think of. I have used backing paper from the Puppies & Kittens CD and then used the topper from the House Mouse Triple CD of them sewing. I find this ever sew cute... look at him getting his belly measured. Awwww.

I have also used some gorgeous haberdashery theme buttons I have had in my stash for a while by threading them onto some lovely sage green satin ribbon. I have used green mirror board to matt and layer and make it all sparkly.  But the biggest thing I love about this card is the size. My DT buddy Sharon has been raving about 7 x 7 cards for such a long time that when I saw them in my local crafty cave I just had to get them. They really are the perfect size, not too small but not too big.

So if this challenge tickles your fancy the prize this month is from Creative Classroom.

C'mon get involved and join in! Thanks for reading Xx

Gruffies & Guests - Anything Goes with Option of Spring

Well done to everyone who made my Top 3 for the last Gruffies & Guests Challenge. The standard of entries were so high I genuinely found it a hard task to choose. Please keep entering the challenge, I love seeing them!  Here is my DT card for this month's challenge. Remember that every month entries can be "Anything Goes" but with an option to follow a theme which this time is "Spring".

You can make any craft item as long as it uses a Happy Hopper, Gruffie or House Mouse image. My card uses a House Mouse image from the Triple CD.  I have used banking paper from dove craft to give it a spring feel, hand-sewn sequins on it and added some gorgeous handmade flowers.

Take a look at the Gruffies & Guests Challenge Blog - the design team are amazingly talented and inspirational makes appear each time.

The prize this time is a $10 voucher from:

Good luck xxx

This post is a mid way reminder for the Gruffies & Guests Challenge. The theme this time is Anything Goes with the option of Lace. This is a theme chosen by me and I am thrilled with the quality of the entries so far and I am worried that the task of choosing a top 3 may be very tough going. This time we have a £10 voucher from  Bearly Mine Designs up for grabs. Remember you must use a Gruffie, Happy Hopper or House Mouse image on your project.

Wishing all my readers a Happy Easter and hope that the Easter Bunny stops at your house to leave you some goodies xx

Something Old & Something New

Regular readers will be pleased to hear that I feeling a lot better and planning to go back to work tomorrow! I have managed to throw this design together for the latest CD Sunday Challenge of 'Something Old & Something New'

Well for my something old I have chosen two backing papers in the lovely mint green and pastel colours that I have had about 2 years now and not used all that much, but found them when scuttling around for something old. The other thing that is relatively old is the pink pastel ribbon that I discovered WAY down in the bottom of my horrendously large ribbon stash.

For something new I have again used the latest addition of Crafters Companion Inspiration magazine CD but this time used the Makey Bakey Mice images for this cute cupcake design. How sweet?!  You will see I have embellished the image with glitter, the wonderful heart banner bunting die from LaLa Land Crafts and some pearls.

Thanks for visiting xx

D is for Dinosaur

Hi lovelies,

Hope you are having a good week, I myself am having a really bad week. I have had a terrible tummy for the last 6 days, hope it goes away soon.

Today I managed to stay out of bed long enough to make this card for the CD Sunday challenge which this week is 'Something beginning with D'. Instantly I thought of dog, then dandelion, daisy, dancing but I have finally come up with DINOSAUR.

This cute little card is made using the free CD from the latest Crafters Companion Inpiration magazine using images from Rachelle Ann Miller. Beautiful decoupaged topper and matching backing papers. I have used some blue card from stock and stickers from Papermania for the number, dots and stars.

I am also entering this card into the Cardz 4 Guyz challenge of 'Numbers' - it maybe for for a 'lil man but still a man none the less!

Hope you like it Xx

Lovely Lace for Ewe

Hi there! Not been doing too much crafting recently, I have been using my free time to volunteer at Rodbaston Animal Zone. So far it has been an amazing and rewarding experience. It has certainly made me appreciate how much zoo keepers and animal care assistants do, it is extremely hard work. It is early mornings and constant physical work. You literally do not stop! Every-time I complete one of my days I come home and collapse into bed. All who do it for a living full time deserve a medal. Most importantly working with animals IS good for you health. You are outdoors, working hard keeping fit and who isn't made happy by little furry faces appreciating you.

This last weekend was Lambing Weekend where people came and feed lambs. I loved every minute of helping out with the lambs and it has been my inspiration for this month's Gruffies & Guests Challenge.

The theme this time is Lovely Lace which I chose. I love lace. I have done lace making since the age 13 and it is my favourite embellishment. I love how lace is now in fashion, as it makes everything look vintage and beautiful. The lace I used on my Gruffie and Lamb project is vintage pink lace from my stash. The image from the Happy Hoppers & Gruffies CD is just scrumptious!

I really can't wait to see what creations people come up with this time. I am sure there are people who are really innovative with lace which will be so inspirational for my (and others) future makes. The prize this month is well worth winning because you can win a £10 voucher from Bearly Mine Designs. Hope to see your entries. Lace month we had some outstanding entries. Have a go! xx

Out of the Hutch Wedding

As I couldn't go to the NEC today as planned I have had a crafty morning with Out of the Hutch decoupage from Joanna Sheen. I have been doing this while listening to an abundance of country music, in particular Hunter Hayes. Inspired by a wedding we are going to this weekend, here is my favourite make...

Cute little guinea pigs up close. I love the bridesmaid!!

I am entering this card into Crafty Ribbons Challenge 81 - Anything goes.

Thank you for looking xx

Easter Parade

Happy Sunday everyone. After a two week break from entering CD Sunday, here I am with my entry to the Easter Parade theme challenge. In the mood to keep it simple today and inspired by the approx. 60 bunnies I saw at Animal Zone Visitor Centre yesterday, I decided to make this clean and simple bunnylicious Easter 6 x 6 card.

Using Joanna Sheen Furry Friends CD for the beautiful bunny topper and Crafter's Companion Morehead CD for stripy background paper, I have used an textured navy cardstock for matt and layering. The embellishments I have used are my most fave, fave, fave, paper flowers from Hobby Craft in white, as well as some faux pearls.

Hope you like it, thanks for looking. As always any comments are welcome :) Xx

Clean and Simple

I was a bit naughty and purchased S.W.A.L.K. CDs from Crafter's Companion but it was worth it - they are delicious! I may get the winter one now before they sell out...

Here is my entry to the latest Crafters Companion challenge 'Clean & Simple' using the S.W.A.L.K. Papercrafting Collection CD. The decoupage of the girl in the rain is unintentionally very apt for the current UK storms.

I have added glitter to the rain drops and puddles, backed onto silver mirri card. Created an embossed flower backing paper in lilac, using my cuttlebug, added gems and little purple bow.

Clean, simple and mega cute.

Thanks for visiting xx

Amethyst, White & Green

Oh my goodness, the weather is not too pretty today. Hope everyone is keeping safe in this awful weather, we are on yellow warning for wind and rain and it is bad enough and supposed to get worse!

Today I share with you my make for the House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge. This week's theme being 'Amethyst, White & another colour'. I have chosen green. I see a lot of other people have too but I think this is because a lot of the images of House Mouse, Gruffies & Happy Hoppers that are purple contain flowers that have green leaves and accents.

Using the Gruffies & Happy Hoppers CD I have used this Gruffie as the main image with matching backing paper. I have matt and layered on to purple card, used purple ribbon and purple paper flowers with pearl centres (new from HobbyCraft). I have used my main embellishment as this leafy swirl die cut in green. Finally I added a sentiment stamp in purple and white faux pearls.

Thanks for visiting, any comments welcome xx

Butterfly Sunburst

Oooh second post in one day, you can tell I am on holiday from work this week!

Today's make is using a new technique called Sunburst. I adapted this design from a tutorial on YouTube. It was a lot easier then I thought and I pleased with the result.

I used 4 different patterned paper, some coordinating card stock, white ribbon and Martha Stewart Butterfly edge punch. I have added all the little butterflies, which I think has made it look very cute.

Hope you like it xxx

Love Always

Hoping I can keep this weeks entry to CD Sunday Challenge 'Love Always' Theme on the down-low as this is the card I will be giving to my amazing boyfriend Steve on Valentine's Day!! I don't think he actually reads my blog unless I show him or post it to facebook, so I think I may be safe (fingers crossed)...

I have used Joanna Sheen Messy Rabbit CD-Rom for the image and heart paper, along with some backing papers from Lidl(!), and a die from Nellies.

Here's a close up of the cute image with added glitter glue. Glitter is not just for Christmas!!

Truly hope everyone reading is safe from the floods and storms.

Thanks for reading - as always, any comments are welcome xx

Anything Goes With Ribbon

My first make of the weekend is a gorgeous little Forever Friends card that I have made using the Kraft Notes kit which I have recently rediscovered in my storage.

I have used a decoupage bear made up with sticky fixers and used a topper as a layer, as well as two different patterned papers from the range, backed on to kraft card. I have die cut a lovely heart banner from LaLa Land crafts (which I must HIGHLY recommend as it cuts beautifully) using the hearts as an embellishment. I have also used buttons from my stash and faux blue pearls.

I have added a peach ribbon bow on the left of the card which finishes the card off nicely. I am entering this card into the Anything Goes With Ribbon challenge over at Crafty Ribbons.

You may notice from my blog that I love using ribbon, and many people comment on my use of it.

Some hints & tips of using ribbon on cards:

1. The key is not to over use it, only use it if it adds something to the design. Think about whether a bow, full strip of ribbon, strip & bow is right.
2. Think about the size of the ribbon you use, including its width and size of bow. You don't want to overload the card with a massive bow unless it is integral to the design.
3. Use a complimentary colour & ribbon pattern that matches the design, papers and colours used.
4. Think about the type of ribbon. Organza is very pretty but does not always suit the design, satin seems to work well with most projects.
5. Practice tying your bows. To get a neat and tidy bow, use a bow maker. There are many different brands on the market, all that use the same principle of using pegs.

This video below from YouTube demonstrates how to use a bow maker

Ribbon & Bows

Despite recovering from flu, since February hit I have heard nothing but good news! On the 1st our amazing friends gave birth to their baby boy (who I am excited to meet), 2nd I woke up to news that I had won the Here Kitty Kitty Challenge over at CD Sunday with my purple kitten card and on the 3rd work called me to say that I won £35 on the bonus ball rollover thing we do. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?!

Due to the flu, I have been home and therefore between napping and entertaining the cat I have had time to make another card. I don't know why but I have been making another orange themed card. Last few days I am just drawn to Autumnal colours which is weird considering it is getting closer to Spring!

This week's challenge at CD Sunday is Ribbon & Bows so we can use our ribbon stashes. Any crafter who says they do not have a large stash is lying... we all have ribbon until it comes out of our ears. I for one have 3 quality street tins and a shoe box full (Oops!)

So this week's make is using my new Puppies & Kittens CD from Joanna Sheen that is no longer published but I have been stalking eBay for it, for a considerable amount of time I may add and have finally got my mitts on one. Yippee! I have used an adorable picture of a cat in a flowerpot with a sweet bunny. My two favourite pets!

The card is 8x8" in size and uses a large decoupage image from the CD, as well as coordinating backing paper. I have used orange paper for matt & layering. I have used orange ribbon along the left hand side with bow which is subtle and not too much but ties it all together nicely. I have added 3 clear gems in the bottom right hand corner as embellishment.

You can see the gorgeous layer of decoupage in this photo, which gives it depth and dimension. I didn't use all the layers as it sometimes becomes different to send when the card is too deep.

For the sentiment, I have used an embossed birthday sentiment in orange from Cuttlebug, cut this out with a circle die and then used a nested scalloped circle in the backing paper, raising it slightly from the card with sticky fixers. I have had this embossing folder for a while but first time I have tried it and it's so effective.

Thank you so much for stopping by, hope you like it Xx
