Clean and Simple

I was a bit naughty and purchased S.W.A.L.K. CDs from Crafter's Companion but it was worth it - they are delicious! I may get the winter one now before they sell out...

Here is my entry to the latest Crafters Companion challenge 'Clean & Simple' using the S.W.A.L.K. Papercrafting Collection CD. The decoupage of the girl in the rain is unintentionally very apt for the current UK storms.

I have added glitter to the rain drops and puddles, backed onto silver mirri card. Created an embossed flower backing paper in lilac, using my cuttlebug, added gems and little purple bow.

Clean, simple and mega cute.

Thanks for visiting xx

Amethyst, White & Green

Oh my goodness, the weather is not too pretty today. Hope everyone is keeping safe in this awful weather, we are on yellow warning for wind and rain and it is bad enough and supposed to get worse!

Today I share with you my make for the House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge. This week's theme being 'Amethyst, White & another colour'. I have chosen green. I see a lot of other people have too but I think this is because a lot of the images of House Mouse, Gruffies & Happy Hoppers that are purple contain flowers that have green leaves and accents.

Using the Gruffies & Happy Hoppers CD I have used this Gruffie as the main image with matching backing paper. I have matt and layered on to purple card, used purple ribbon and purple paper flowers with pearl centres (new from HobbyCraft). I have used my main embellishment as this leafy swirl die cut in green. Finally I added a sentiment stamp in purple and white faux pearls.

Thanks for visiting, any comments welcome xx

Butterfly Sunburst

Oooh second post in one day, you can tell I am on holiday from work this week!

Today's make is using a new technique called Sunburst. I adapted this design from a tutorial on YouTube. It was a lot easier then I thought and I pleased with the result.

I used 4 different patterned paper, some coordinating card stock, white ribbon and Martha Stewart Butterfly edge punch. I have added all the little butterflies, which I think has made it look very cute.

Hope you like it xxx

Love Always

Hoping I can keep this weeks entry to CD Sunday Challenge 'Love Always' Theme on the down-low as this is the card I will be giving to my amazing boyfriend Steve on Valentine's Day!! I don't think he actually reads my blog unless I show him or post it to facebook, so I think I may be safe (fingers crossed)...

I have used Joanna Sheen Messy Rabbit CD-Rom for the image and heart paper, along with some backing papers from Lidl(!), and a die from Nellies.

Here's a close up of the cute image with added glitter glue. Glitter is not just for Christmas!!

Truly hope everyone reading is safe from the floods and storms.

Thanks for reading - as always, any comments are welcome xx

Anything Goes With Ribbon

My first make of the weekend is a gorgeous little Forever Friends card that I have made using the Kraft Notes kit which I have recently rediscovered in my storage.

I have used a decoupage bear made up with sticky fixers and used a topper as a layer, as well as two different patterned papers from the range, backed on to kraft card. I have die cut a lovely heart banner from LaLa Land crafts (which I must HIGHLY recommend as it cuts beautifully) using the hearts as an embellishment. I have also used buttons from my stash and faux blue pearls.

I have added a peach ribbon bow on the left of the card which finishes the card off nicely. I am entering this card into the Anything Goes With Ribbon challenge over at Crafty Ribbons.

You may notice from my blog that I love using ribbon, and many people comment on my use of it.

Some hints & tips of using ribbon on cards:

1. The key is not to over use it, only use it if it adds something to the design. Think about whether a bow, full strip of ribbon, strip & bow is right.
2. Think about the size of the ribbon you use, including its width and size of bow. You don't want to overload the card with a massive bow unless it is integral to the design.
3. Use a complimentary colour & ribbon pattern that matches the design, papers and colours used.
4. Think about the type of ribbon. Organza is very pretty but does not always suit the design, satin seems to work well with most projects.
5. Practice tying your bows. To get a neat and tidy bow, use a bow maker. There are many different brands on the market, all that use the same principle of using pegs.

This video below from YouTube demonstrates how to use a bow maker

Ribbon & Bows

Despite recovering from flu, since February hit I have heard nothing but good news! On the 1st our amazing friends gave birth to their baby boy (who I am excited to meet), 2nd I woke up to news that I had won the Here Kitty Kitty Challenge over at CD Sunday with my purple kitten card and on the 3rd work called me to say that I won £35 on the bonus ball rollover thing we do. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?!

Due to the flu, I have been home and therefore between napping and entertaining the cat I have had time to make another card. I don't know why but I have been making another orange themed card. Last few days I am just drawn to Autumnal colours which is weird considering it is getting closer to Spring!

This week's challenge at CD Sunday is Ribbon & Bows so we can use our ribbon stashes. Any crafter who says they do not have a large stash is lying... we all have ribbon until it comes out of our ears. I for one have 3 quality street tins and a shoe box full (Oops!)

So this week's make is using my new Puppies & Kittens CD from Joanna Sheen that is no longer published but I have been stalking eBay for it, for a considerable amount of time I may add and have finally got my mitts on one. Yippee! I have used an adorable picture of a cat in a flowerpot with a sweet bunny. My two favourite pets!

The card is 8x8" in size and uses a large decoupage image from the CD, as well as coordinating backing paper. I have used orange paper for matt & layering. I have used orange ribbon along the left hand side with bow which is subtle and not too much but ties it all together nicely. I have added 3 clear gems in the bottom right hand corner as embellishment.

You can see the gorgeous layer of decoupage in this photo, which gives it depth and dimension. I didn't use all the layers as it sometimes becomes different to send when the card is too deep.

For the sentiment, I have used an embossed birthday sentiment in orange from Cuttlebug, cut this out with a circle die and then used a nested scalloped circle in the backing paper, raising it slightly from the card with sticky fixers. I have had this embossing folder for a while but first time I have tried it and it's so effective.

Thank you so much for stopping by, hope you like it Xx

Love Is In The Air - New Gruffies & Guests DT

Hello lovelies

Hope you are all having a better 2014 than me. I have been ill since 1st January! First had extreme fatigue, then UTI and now the flu, hoping the year improves shortly. Although I have caught up with a few Disney movies which has been nice.

As we enter February it means we have a new challenge over at Gruffies and Guests Challenge. Our very first challenge was amazing with over 50 entries and I really enjoyed looking at everyone's entries, so inspirational and gorgeous. There really are some amazingly talented crafters out there in the world and I feel privileged to be part of the crafting movement.

Today I share with you my DT card for the February Challenge of "Love Is In The Air". I have gone against the traditional red and pink and gone for autumn colours with kraft card. The main reason for doing this is I desperately wanted to try out my new kraft card I purchased from Papermill Direct and also I wanted to make an Anniversary card (I send so many).

I have used this gorgeous little House Mouse image from the triple cd with matching backing paper. I have used the LaLa Land Crafts heart banner die and used this down the side which is different then what I have tried before and I quite like the effect. Also used some orange ribbon and hearts with gold gem centres. Added a bit of glitter to the image for that added sparkle.

Hope you like it and please, please, please join in with  the Challenge.

This month is sponsored by Dawn to Dusk - who have donated a voucher.

Good luck xx
