Animal Magic

Here is my giraffe card that I designed for Ruby's Rainbow Animal Magic Challenge.
We often go to zoos (Twycross & Dudley in particular) and they have both have giraffes that we love to watch, plus since we took Stephen's 87 year old grandma she has done nothing but be fascinated by and talk about them, so it was a no-brainer really.

The card is different to what I would usually do. It uses a peel-off that I am never quite sure whether I like or not but these tiny sentiment ones are not so bad. I also used these flower & leaf dies from Marianne that have a punched edge, I have had them for a long time but I honestly think it could be the first ever time I have cut them! I used a mixture of blues and purples along with kraft card.

Materials Used:

Kraft Card from Crafter's Companion
Pollyanna Pickering World Wildlife CD
Flower & leaf die from Marianne
Peel offs, gems
Paper from Dovecraft

The cute little giraffes in the picture remind me of when Stephen and I did a zoo keeper day at Dudley Zoo in 2014, which I shall ALWAYS remember and treasure the memories.

The challenge on CD Sunday this time is Seasons. Most people seem to say they hate or love certain seasons, some even get down in Winter but I love all seasons. Spring you have all the lovely flowers, particularly daffodils, which are one of my favourites. In Summer, it's (sometimes) hotter and you get to go outside without a coat. In Autumn, it's an explosion of oranges and browns that look beautiful. Winter, it's Christmas and cold so you get to wear warm and cosy jumpers, scarves and hats. I simply don't understand distaste of certain seasons. Although having said that there is nothing better then a bit of warm sun on your face.

However, for the challenge I have chosen this cute image from Popcorn the Bear Kids CD of him and Soufflé the duck eating strawberries. A lovely summer image that reminds me of when I was little and my parents used to take me to strawberry pick of your own and we'd eat more than we actually bought as we went along. Oops!

I love the colours of the colours I chose. I have realised that lately I am choosing a lot of pink, yellow and green in my crafts, stationery and home décor. I also love the little pink ribbon that has Love, Laugh, Live printed on it.

Materials Used:

Images Popcorn Kids Collection CD Rom
Papers from stash but believe they are Dovecraft
Ribbon from Papermania
Leaves 6 x 6 folder (not sure make)
Spellbinders D-Lites Sentiments Die
Stickles glitter in stardust
Paper flowers from Hobbycraft (which I added glitter to)

AMAZED to read that I won CD Sunday in the January challenge of "Ringing in the  New Year". I am so pleased that my interpretation of the theme was appreciated and my card liked. Also, thank you for the wonderful prize of charms I received from Carol - so generous. Don't worry, Carol, I do like charms just didn't own any, until now.

The very generous prize from Carol. Thank you so much!
Thank you for visiting my blog - any comments welcome Xx

Wild Flowers

So slowly I am becoming obsessed with Bamboo the Bear from Party Paws CD... He's just so incredibly cute, that every challenge I have planned on entering this week I have desperately wanted to use this CD.

The challenge this time on CD Sunday is Wild flowers, which consequently led to my first question:

Are daisies wild flowers?

After approximately 15 minutes of googling, I have found that they are! They are sometimes known as weeds and some varieties are perennials but the variety of  Oxeye Daises, which are the white ones with yellow middles  (like the ones in my image) are indeed wildflowers. On that note, this make is my interpretation of the theme. I have used a 'get well' sentiment because I think if I received this card when ill it would make me feel much brighter.

Materials Used:

Party Paws Papercrafting CD-ROM
Papers from stash
Kraft Card
6 x 6 white hammered card blank
Spellbinders D-Lites Sentiments Four
Papermania Bow
Stickles glitter in Stardust

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed my wildflower lesson LOL xx

Swinging in the Lilacs

After what can only be described as a very sad week in celebrity deaths (RIP David Bowie & Alan Rickman), I bring you this super cute and cheery House Mouse card.

I really love this image from the Triple CD ROM of a little mouse swinging in the lilac. I know there are few different names of house mice, but as yet, I can't tell the difference between the little critters. Anybody know who it is?

Materials used:

Papers from stash
Embossing folder sentiment (Papercraft Essentials magazine)
Lace from Docrafts
6 x 6 card blank hammered in white
Buttons and pearls from stash

Showing Something New

Well... I write this on a very dark and dismal Monday morning (where I've struggled to take a photo) but nonetheless I'm happy to show you my latest make. Ruby's Rainbow Challenge asked us to show them something new, well I've bought lots of new things in the January sales, that I didn't waste time in using!

I FINALLY got my paws on Bamboo the bear - Party Paws everyday CD. Horrah! As well as the Bebunni butterfly dies I've have my eye on for quite some time. I love this image so much as it's so cute and pretty. Pink is one of my favourite colours and the pink blossom with teeny butterflies is so beautiful. I have added glitter to the centre of the flowers for added sparkle, as you know I love a bit of iridescent glitter.

Materials Used:

Pictures & Papers from Party Paws Papercrafting CD-Rom
Bebunni Butterfly dies
Spellbinders Die D-Lits Sentiments Three
Stickles Glitter Glue in Stardust
Papermania bow
Pink gems, buttons
Pink card stock, white card stock
Silver mirror card from Rymans

New Beginnings

Well new years usually bring about new  beginnings. I spent a couple of hours yesterday going through CDs I have, and realised I haven't used my Morehead CD in a long, long, time and subsequently have chosen a very cute image for the Crafting Musketeers challenge this time.  Not that they are ever not cute... This image reminded me of a new baby boy in our family called Bear, and it has certainly been a new beginning for his mom and dad.

My make accidentally became about using materials I have not used for a while and I am very pleased with it. I seem to be very into kraft card at the moment, I love combining cute with rustic and kraft card instantly achieves a rustic look.

Materials Used:

Image from Morehead Papercrafting CD-ROM
Backing papers Papermania Pastel capsule collection
Kraft card
Ribbon bow from Papermania
Buttons and gems from stash
Heart banner bunting from LaLa Land Crafts - cuts BEAUTIFULLY

Ring in the New Year

Happy New Year! Hope all that reads this blog will have a wonderful, prosperous and healthy 2016.

Firstly, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to CD Sunday Challenge for choosing my Hedgehog card as winner at the "H is for..." challenge back in November. As I have just returned to card making it has really made me smile, so thank you.

Anyway, on that note here I am with another entry to CD Sunday - Ring in the New Year challenge. Most people seem to be choosing images of partying, drinking, general celebration - but that is not how I spent my New Years Eve - so I have made a card that reflects what I did.

What I did in fact is sit at home with my lovely boyfriend, reflecting on 2015 and talking about what we want for the coming year. Well, that was until Bryan Adams came on the TV and then I just sat getting excited and Stephen wasn't so keen... LOL

So my card is two very cute in-love mice cuddled up reflecting on the year from Crafter's Companion Moonbeam Meadow which I haven't used yet, I am so pleased I got to use my new sentiment die too (which is actually 'with love' but cut down) - sooo cute.

Materials used:

Picture & papers from Moonbeams Meadow Everyday CD-ROM
Spellbinders Die D-Lits Sentiments Three
Stickles Glitter Glue in Stardust
Kraft card
A6 hammered card blank in white
Gems, ribbon from stash
Heart punch from Lidl(!)

Hope you like it. Xx
